Nrityang
Welcome to
Nrityang
Welcome to Nrityang, a space where movement becomes expression and tradition finds new life through dance. Rooted in the rich heritage of Kathak, Nrityang is dedicated to nurturing artistry, discipline, and a deep understanding of the language of rhythm, expression, and storytelling.
Here, dance is not only learned as a technique but experienced as a journey—one that connects body, mind, and spirit. Through thoughtful training, exploration of abhinaya, rhythm, and classical repertoire, students are guided to discover both the grace of the form and their own unique voice within it.
Nrityang is a space for seekers, learners, and lovers of dance—where tradition is honoured, creativity is encouraged, and every step carries meaning.
Welcome to the journey.
Our Founder
Antara Sharma is a Kathak artiste and educator dedicated to the performance, teaching, and preservation of India’s classical dance heritage. With nearly a decade of rigorous training, her artistic practice reflects a deep engagement with the technical precision, rhythmic intricacy, and expressive depth that define the Kathak tradition.
Her learning has been enriched through workshops with distinguished masters, including Pandit Birju Maharaj, Saswati Sen, Guru Maulik Shah, Guru Ishira Parikh, Durga Arya, Dr Puru Dadhich, Vibha Dadhich, and Parwati Dutta, whose teachings have shaped her understanding of both the structural sophistication and emotive storytelling that lie at the heart of Kathak.
Antara has presented herself at several prestigious cultural platforms. Her performances include the dance drama Brahmakamalam at the 8th International Women’s Conference in Bengaluru, Brahan Natyanjali at the Brihadeshwara Temple in Thanjavur for Maha Shivratri, and presentations for G20 Delegate Conferences in Bengaluru and Nandi Hills, where she shared the elegance and narrative richness of Kathak with diverse national and international audiences.
Alongside her performance practice, Antara is deeply committed to the pedagogy of Kathak. Over the years, she has trained numerous students across age groups, guiding them through the foundations of tatkar, layakari, abhinaya, and repertoire while fostering discipline, musicality, and a sensitive understanding of the art form. Her teaching approach balances traditional rigour with an encouraging and nurturing environment, allowing students to build strong technique while discovering their own artistic voice.
She places particular emphasis on helping students understand the philosophy, storytelling traditions, and aesthetic principles of Kathak, encouraging them to connect intellectually and emotionally with the dance rather than approaching it as movement alone. Many of her students have developed confidence in performance and a deeper appreciation for the cultural heritage embedded within the form.
